What does his creation imply about the status of human beings.
I think we should begin our look at the town that made a novelist at an earlier time -- back when it was trying to unmake him ~- that period which most readers probably have some familiarity with -- and that's the time of what we now refer to as the "Effingham Controversy" or the "Three Mile Point Controversy." This, of course, refers to that time of the novelist's life -- about 1837 to 1845 -- when some residents of this area did their best to ruin Cooper's reputation as a gentleman and a scholar -- and Cooper did his best, by means of libel suits -- to maintain his own.
Something even more worrisome is going on as well. In the war over the culture of medicine—the war over whether our country’s anchor model will be Mayo or McAllen—the Mayo model is losing. In the sharpest economic downturn that our health system has faced in half a century, many people in medicine don’t see why they should do the hard work of organizing themselves in ways that reduce waste and improve quality if it means sacrificing revenue.
At first thought one would of course say God created humans.
Woody Powell is a Stanford sociologist who studies the economic culture of cities. Recently, he and his research team studied why certain regions—Boston, San Francisco, San Diego—became leaders in biotechnology while others with a similar concentration of scientific and corporate talent—Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York—did not. The answer they found was what Powell describes as the anchor-tenant theory of economic development. Just as an anchor store will define the character of a mall, anchor tenants in biotechnology, whether it’s a company like Genentech, in South San Francisco, or a university like M.I.T., in Cambridge, define the character of an economic community. They set the norms. The anchor tenants that set norms encouraging the free flow of ideas and collaboration, even with competitors, produced enduringly successful communities, while those that mainly sought to dominate did not.
In the Christian societies of Europe and America the “origin myth” that defines the divine order that Christians should follow is laid out largely in Genesis, and the worldview expounded within it in some sense provides the baseline from which “scientific” alternatives must deviate, at least within the Europe and America....
So of course God created man, right.
What’s even more fascinating is the human ability to make up a history or to tell a story, such as a creation myth, that seeks to explain something that has not been witnessed by anyone and does not have any role in finding food or creating shelter....
The creation myths of the Kono, the Cherokee, the Ethiopian, the Iroquois, and the Navajo tribes identify a key human trait and all have examples of the dominance of a man over woman which signifies the human quality of superiority over inferiority.

Myths of their creation, of why they erupt.
Although told in different languages and separate parts of the world similarities arise as all of the creation stories attempt to answer the great mystery of life “Where did we come from?” Stories of our creation of the world create a spiritual and mystical bond that unites people together....
Myths and legends of various gods controlling their own volcanoes.
The early history of baseball—the stick-and-ball game of working people—presents the same problem of conventional invisibility—and the same promise of rescue by exploration of unusual sources. Work continues and intensifies as the history of sport becomes more and more academically respectable, but the broad outlines (and much fascinating detail) are now well established. As the upper classes played a codified and well-documented cricket, working people played a largely unrecorded and much more diversified set of stick-and-ball games ancestral to baseball. Many sources, including primers and boys’ manuals, depict games recognizable as precursors to baseball well into the early eighteenth century. Occasional references even spill over into high culture. In Northanger Abbey, written at the close of the eighteenth century, Jane Austen remarks: “It was not very wonderful that Catherine . . . should prefer cricket, base ball, riding on horseback, and running about the country, at the age of fourteen, to books.” As this quotation illustrates, the name of the game is no more Doubleday’s than the form of play.
